January 1st

A day to clean out your junk drawer, wash your sheets and file the papers on your desk

or a day to make more of a mess with snow gear, hot chocolate and crafts.

A day to cleanse your body with green juices and kale salads

or a day to stuff your body with sauerkraut and pork.

A day to get a head start on the week ahead

or a day to subject your backpack/briefcase to 24 more hours in time out.

A day to put away all of the Christmas decorations

or a day to watch Eloise At Christmastime and devour the rest of the Christmas cookie platter.

A day to feel invigorated

or a day to feel depressed.

A day to like all of your friends' New Year's Eve pictures on social media

or a day to disconnect from your phone.

A day to go for an extra long run

or a day to give your body a break.

A day to anticipate the upcoming year

or a day to reflect on the past year.

A day to write down goals you hope to accomplish over the next year

or a day to write down goals you hope to accomplish over the next week.

Do not feel pressured to follow societal norms on the first day of the year. Instead, do whatever you need to do to prepare yourself for the next 364 days.

Cheers to another year of me.
