Last Monday, this Monday seemed unreachable. The 845,702,348 impending due dates, set by individuals who all thought it would be a humorous prank to schedule assignments during the same week, made it difficult to breathe properly for five days straight. But, I did, in fact, make it to this Monday and am breathing properly again. Thank you for asking.
Thankfully, it is now spring break and I have seven days of family time to recover from last week and revitalize myself for the rest of the semester. Before my brain attempts to check out for the week, I want to quickly offer a life update.
1. I am still forcing myself to remove dairy from my diet, but I can no longer tell if doing so is improving my skin and overall well-being. As a result, I cheat often. Oh well, life is short -- let yourself indulge.
2. I was elected the 2018-19 president of Lindner Women in Business (LWiB), a Lindner College of Business Diversity and Inclusion Program that provides knowledge, support and experience to emerging women leaders to help them achieve success however they define it (no, I did not just copy and paste its mission statement). I joined LWiB my freshman year and immediately fell in love with its visions and fellow members. My introverted side is terrified to take on such a prominent role, but my bold side could not be more ready to shake it up.
3. My grandma visited UC for the first time last weekend, and I was thrilled to show her around. With our short statures and shared love for Italian food, we are two peas in a pod.
4. I am not allowed to refill a few of my allergy prescriptions until I see my doctor later this week. So, my feet have been swollen since last Tuesday.
5. I celebrated International Women's Day, alongside 12 brilliant females, with the launch of She | UC, a collective of women, for women, that hopes to harness the dynamic energy of the women on UC's campus in order to create a network of support, innovation and collaboration (psh, I did not coy and paste that one either). To break that statement down, our team chooses students, alumnae and faculty to showcase their accomplishments to the rest of the community. As an editor, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview and write about former UC Student Body Vice President Dana Drage.
6. I am still trying to secure an internship in Toronto for the summer. It has been one long work in progress. If you are or know someone who is is based in TO and needs a summer intern, hit me up!
7. My motivation and creativity are MIA because of the relentless Winter Season Scaries. Since I seem to be fresh out of unique blog post concepts these days, let me know if you have any!
Remember to break your diet every once in awhile, scare yourself often and be proactive with refilling your prescriptions. I am going to enjoy my family time now. See you next Monday.
Cheers to savoring the ups and downs of life.
